Scheduled to ship to subscribers on March 14, the box (#NGQ02) will include 15 products that range from accessories, fashion, beauty, and home. Many items in #NGQ02 are exclusive, one-of-a-kind designer products created just for Garcia’s Quarterly box. Fans can sign up for Garcia’s next Quarterly subscription by visiting: https://quarterly.co/products/nina-garcia. “Quarterly has given me another opportunity to express my own creative style, and I’m excited to share my exclusive anniversary picks with my fans and subscribers,” said Garcia. “I’m extremely proud of my five years with Marie Claire and have made sure to include some fabulous, custom products that have inspired me along the way.” In September 2013, Garcia joined Quarterly as both a curator and advisor and shortly after, her first gift box quickly sold out. Subscribers and fans are more engaged than ever, making her one of the most successful Quarterly curators to date. “Having Nina on board as both a curator and advisor has been a wonderful addition to Quarterly. Her subscribers are going to be thrilled with what’s inside this exclusive anniversary-themed package,” said Mitch Lowe, CEO of Quarterly. “Nina continues to provide rare insight into the multi-dimensional world of fashion and beauty, and her knack for designing the perfect Quarterly box is something we all admire.”

Welcome Subscribers!

I am extremely pleased to share with you my first curated collection for Quarterly.  I hope this is just the beginning of a long-lasting relationship where I can share with you products that I’ve come across and that I find fascinating and interesting (and sometimes, purely practical but a life saver!).  For my first box, I’ve handpicked products from this season that reflect what’s happening in fashion today: hot brands, wardrobe staples, beauty essentials and up-and-coming designers.  The beauty of working in my industry is that I get a first peek at what’s to come in fashion and beauty and this is my opportunity to share that with you!

While these picks are my favorite finds of the season, you may note that there is an underlying, connecting theme.  This season, I was truly inspired by a trend we’ve seen on the runways, magazines, street style, and something that’s defining what’s happening in pop culture today: GLAM GRUNGE.  I first came across grunge while interning at Perry Ellis under Marc Jacobs; today, that iconic collection in fashion history has re-emerged in a new reincarnation that incorporates luxe elements to create a seemingly contradictory juxtaposition of glam and grunge.

In your box…

The LEATHER DUAL CONE CUFF BY BAUBLEBAR, created exclusively for my first Quarterly mailing, strikes that perfect balance between polish and edge. You won’t be able to find this piece anywhere else but #NGQ01! A big shout-out to the wonderful ladies at BaubleBar for making this happen!

Pair your BaubleBar piece with this one-of-a-kind JACK VARTANIAN EAR CUFF that will instantly up your street cred!  The sleek toughness of this earpiece is a must for the season (piercing not necessary!). Jack Vartanian’s mix of tradition and urban style make it a perfect match for anyone trying to achieve that glam grunge look.

Perhaps the most luxe of all, this FAUX FUR STOLE BY ADRIENNE LANDAU, also created exclusively for #NGQ01, is a versatile piece that can be worn as either a scarf or headpiece. It’s the perfect accessory to transition into fall, and as many of you fashionistas know, Adrienne is THE expert when it comes to all things fur.

There is no better way to wear a trend than making sure you have the right foundation. Taking care of your skin helps you look young and refreshed and is one of the most essential steps in creating an overall polished look. Put the glam in grunge with this VBEAUTÉ IT KIT ANTI AGE SKIN CARE SYSTEM. The five tubes of skincare essentials are contained in a gunmetal clutch so you can take your skincare regime anywhere. This particular kit contains Undercover Agent®, Rub Off®, Evidence Eraser®, Buying Time® and Eye Never®, and will help your skin look its most polished and bright.

Another beauty essential that I have recently discovered is this PEARL+ LUXURY SOAP that will help you clean up on even your grungiest of days. This magical soap is comprised of crushed pearl and charcoal; the charcoal will absorb impurities, and the pearl will moisturize your skin (gentle enough for your face!). Even the aesthetics of the bar are in line with my grunge theme: black with a cross etched into the bar and on the packaging.

Now that we have the proper accessories and skincare regime to create a glam- grunge look, we need to add the finishing touches—lips and nails. Use the TOO FACED LA CRÈME COLOR DRENCHED LIP CREAMto create a dark pout. I chose four shades of plum from the berry family and each box will contain one of these shades. Surprise! Finally, polish your nails with your ESSIE SHEARLING DARLING to create an on-trend nail for fall; this dark red shade is the perfect hue. Essie is a must have for any beauty junkie.

And, finally, as a bonus I have included the December issue of MARIE CLAIREthe go-to guide for the best in fashion, beauty, and everything in-between. Plus, check out my gift guide in 101 ideas—to see everything we’re loving to give and get this season!

And there you have it. Building this box has been an amazing and rewarding experience and I look forward to the next one. In the meantime, I encourage you to take risks, have fun and make these pieces your own. For creative ways to incorporate the items listed here take a look at my Pinterest board, which includes looks inspired by the glam-grunge trend. I look forward to seeing your interpretations of these picks on Instagram and Twitter—I’m @ninagarcia. Using the #NGQ01 hashtag, share the looks you created with the items in this box. I can’t wait to see them!

With Love,

Nina

Marie Claire Creative Director extraordinaire and Project Runway judge shows you exactly what it’s like to #BeNina. “I love when technology and fashion meet up,” says the ever stylish Nina Garcia. Styled with a pair of Google Glasses, she sets out to bring you behind the scenes of Project Runway, the celebrities and models she meets up with, and of course, front row at Fashion Week. “I am fascinated on how technology allows us to see fashion through a different lens. You cannot get closer to fashion than this fashion week. You will be seated first row with me!” Follow hashtag #benina all season long for more Tim Gunn, possibly some celebrity cleavage, and definitely a lot of front-row fashion.

…and here’s a little something to kick #benina off. Behind the scenes at Project Runway.
